The Enduring Self

We somehow learn to say ‘I’ to ourselves as young children, and continue to do so throughout life, right until the moment we die. This is the Enduring Self that remains constant, while fundamental changes, developments and transformations are going on in our soul.

In this pathway, we explore this seeming contradiction of life from both a personal and general human perspective. We look to our individual life changes and the effects they have on us. These may be changes in health, relationships, life roles, identity and ageing. We also explore feelings around the inevitable and often taboo subject of death itself. These emotive and powerful subjects can present up with challenges and we hope each participant will begin to find ways of weaving the effects of these changes into the lives we are now living.

Within the holding gesture of the Oasis framework, we create a confidential space for deep sharing. This naturally leads to a deep bonding experience, a strong group identity and mutual commitment to one another. We will work creatively and courageously from our own life experience. Painting, drawing and clay modelling will be our non-verbal modes for what often eludes our rational understanding. Stories, myths and poetry, tears tears and laughter will bring colour and texture to what we all share and have in common.

This course is available to a maximum of 8 participants, and is run by experienced facilitators Karin Jarman and Pauline Marksteiner.
